Appearance: A short, fair Midlander woman with natural white hair and blue-green eyes, though she has a tendency to dye her hair pink. She's known to change names, eye and hair colors to suit her mood, or to avoid attention. At times, she disguises herself as other races entirely, utilizing glamouring tricks she picked up during her time with the Rogues' Guild. Phae is adept at appearing boringly average when called for, but prefers dressing to her own taste when possible.Background: Phae (birth name: Fhlae Mercer) hails from a rich merchant family in Ishgard, the youngest of four children (her twin brothers are the eldest, followed by one older sister). Disgusted by their cutthroat techniques and willingness to do anything to get ahead, and aware of the disdain from other families in Ishgard (who merely tolerate the Mercers because of their effectiveness), she left home at a young age to make her own way in the world. She hasn't spoken to her family since, and avoids any attempts to find her. To her annoyance, Rowena of the House of Splendors seems to know both Phae's family and true name.As a teenager, she was caught trying to pickpocket a member of the Rogues' Guild in Limsa Lominsa and subsequently taken under their wing. While she's come far and learned many other trades since then, she does not forget her roots, and still considers the Guild to be family. Upon returning to Ishgard years later, she became a Machinist out of respect for Stephanivien's vision and willingness to break from his family's tradition. She became a Dark Knight as well, embracing the opportunity to harness the powers of darkness to further her own goals.Most recently, Phae has been traveling the realm as an adventurer, brawler, monster slayer and treasure hunter, looking to hone her skills and earn enough coin to settle down someday.Personality: Phae is easily bored, slightly absentminded, and always restless. She has zero respect for authority unless earned, and detests dealing with fake or formal people. She often speaks her mind with little regard for the consequences--a trait that's only become more pronounced after becoming a Dark Knight. With most people, she appears optimistic, spontaneous, and easygoing. Inwardly, she's less cheerful and naive, but still maintains a desire to believe in others. Despite her seemingly laidback nature, she has trouble getting close to others and only has a handful of close friends. At times, she's sullen and moody; on these occasions, she withdraws to a number of "hiding places" throughout the realm to clear her mind. As her family rose to power with no regard to whom they stepped on, Phae desires to leave things better than she finds them, in whatever minor ways she can. I'm an adult in my 30s, working full-time and in school, so my time is a bit limited. I've been roleplaying in some form or another since I was a teenager on forums, but I'm quite inexperienced at MMO-style roleplaying. I'm always open to suggestions and tips on improving, and always up for making new friends (RP or OOC)!Roleplay Style/Themes
My favorite kind of RP is the kind that happens spontaneously and naturally. Let's pick a starting point and see what happens! I'm up for adventure, slice of life, romance, light, serious, darker stuff--whatever fits our shared story and is comfortable for everyone involved. ERP is something I engage in very rarely and with people that I trust, please don't expect it.Let's always keep in mind, we are NOT our characters, and real life obligations always come first. I ask that you please let me know if you get bored or frustrated--communication is key in all things, but I feel it's especially important in roleplaying.
